Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks

Why We Funded

The Mirolo Charitable Foundation contributed to Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks for the construction of a signature park pavilion at the Metro Parks’ Quarry Trails Park near Trabue Road and Dublin Road in Columbus, Ohio. The park itself will be open for at least three seasons and include at a minimum a scenic outlook, a deck and restrooms. The pavilion will be named in honor of Amelita Mirolo.

Here is an article about the planned pavilion — though the Metro Parks are tweaking the design: High bids delay plans to build events center, offices at Quarry Trails Metro Park

The Mirolo Charitable Foundation is contributing $200,000 to the events center project. Toni Bloomfield, a spokeswoman for the foundation, said the Amelita Mirolo Barn at Sunny 95 Park in Upper Arlington has proven to be a big success, and she believes an events center at Quarry Trails would prove to be the same.

“Parks bring joy to communities and many opportunities. It’s a good fit for us,” Bloomfield said.
